Best Project Team award at healthcare ‘Oscars’
IHP won the Best Project Team Award for the Wandsworth Recovery Unit in Tooting at the prestigious Building Better Healthcare 2009 Awards.
The new building at Springfield University Hospital also achieved Highly Commended in the Best Mental Health Design category of the awards which recognise and celebrate the best in healthcare building design.
Designed and built for South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust, the unit provides accommodation for a psychiatric intensive care unit and an adult acute ward. The scheme also allows the Trust to bring together disparate members of Community Mental Health Teams to improve the quality of service offered to both patients and their carers.
A Trust spokesman said: “By working in a genuine partnership atmosphere, a state-of-the-art building was developed on time and within budget. The project has been very well received and has set a benchmark for the modernisation of mental health services across the country.”
