Milton Keynes Treatment Centre

Delivered in just 18 months, this 60-bed centre was one of the first schemes completed under the Procure 21 initiative.

A high quality landmark building constructed for Milton Keynes General NHS Trust, patient facilities include four theatres, a day surgery unit, treatment and procedure rooms as well as a pre-assessment clinic.

This is terrific news for our patients. During the design phase of the project we consulted widely with patients to see what they wanted in the Centre. The result is a superb building with excellent patient facilities, built to very high standards.

A genuine partnering relationship between the Trust’s project personnel and the IHP Team saw agreement of the schedule of accommodation and the outline plans within two months.

Throughout the project, the team provided innovative solutions to a variety of design challenges. These included repositioning and re-orientating the building to avoid a deep valley area thus realising substantial savings in the cost of substructure works.

Square hollow sections for the main steel structure columns were incorporated within the partitions giving an unbroken partition line. With no inaccessible corners around columns this allows for a thorough cleaning regime, thus assisting infection control.
